How we handle your data

This Privacy Policy explains how TaleBlazers collects, uses, and protects information when you use our interactive storytelling app. Our product is designed for parents and guardians to use together with their children.

1. What information we collect

We only collect information needed to run the app, personalize stories, and operate subscriptions.

Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider). We also create a profile that stores your email and optional display name.
Story and profile information: When you create a story, we store the story content, choices, hero name (which may include your child's first name), values you choose to emphasize, and your story settings and preferences. Completed stories and in-progress stories are saved to your account so you can replay them later.
Payment and subscription information: When you purchase credits or a subscription, payment details (like card number) are processed by our payment provider. We receive and store only limited billing-related metadata such as Stripe customer IDs, price IDs, and subscription status, along with a record of credits purchased and spent.
Audio and voice data: If you use voice features (speech input or narration), we send short segments of audio to our speech-to-text and text-to-speech providers to generate transcripts and narration. We may store generated narration audio or references to it so you can replay stories.
Images and illustration data: To create illustrations for your stories, we send prompts and limited context (such as the hero description and scene description) to our image-generation providers. Generated images are stored in our storage provider and linked to your stories.
Usage and analytics data: For logged-in users, we collect basic analytics and error information through our analytics provider, including a stable user identifier, your email, authentication events (such as sign in / sign up success or failure), and app error events. We use this to understand how the product is used and to keep the service reliable.
Device and technical information: Like most online services, we and our providers may collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, operating system, and basic device information needed to deliver the service, keep it secure, and prevent abuse.

2. How we use your information

To create and deliver personalized, interactive stories.
To generate story text, images, and narration using AI services.
To store your stories, preferences, and profile so you can return to them later.
To manage subscriptions, credit balances, and payments (through our payment provider).
To monitor performance, debug issues, and improve the product using analytics and error reporting.
To protect the service against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access (for example, using CAPTCHA/Turnstile checks).

We do not use your stories or personal information to train our own models. The third-party AI providers we use may retain data temporarily under their own terms to operate and improve their services; see the "Third-party services" section below.

3. Third party service providers

We use trusted third party service providers to run TaleBlazers. These companies help us with hosting, content generation, payments, analytics, security, and similar functions. They are only allowed to use children's personal information to provide services to us and are not allowed to use it for their own marketing or targeted advertising.

Infrastructure and storage

We use cloud hosting, database, authentication, and file storage providers. They host our servers and store account data, profiles, stories, generated images and audio, feedback, and backups.

AI and content generation

We use AI service providers to generate story text, illustrations, and narration. To do this, we send them prompts that can include your child's hero name, story setup, choices in the story, and other content you provide.

Audio processing

We use speech to text providers to convert recorded audio, such as spoken names or choices, into text so the app can understand your child's input.

Payments

We use a third party payment processor to handle subscription payments. The processor handles sensitive payment details, such as card numbers, directly and only provides us with limited billing information, such as a payment token and the last four digits of the card.

Analytics and reliability

We use analytics and error monitoring providers to understand how the app is used, fix bugs, and improve performance. For logged in users, these tools may collect information such as device type, general location, app version, usage events, and error details, which we may tie to your account.

Security and abuse prevention

We use anti abuse and CAPTCHA providers to protect sign ups, logins, and other parts of the service from bots and fraudulent activity. These providers may receive technical information such as IP address and device information to perform their checks.

We only share the minimum information needed for these providers to do their work, and we require them to protect the information they receive.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

TaleBlazers uses cookies and similar technologies for:

Authentication: Our authentication provider sets session cookies so you can stay signed in securely.
Analytics (logged-in users only): Our analytics provider may use cookies or local storage to understand how the app is used and to associate events with your account.
Security: Anti-abuse tools (such as CAPTCHA/Turnstile) may set cookies or use similar identifiers to detect fraudulent traffic.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not show third-party ads in TaleBlazers.

5. Children's privacy

TaleBlazers is built for families, but accounts are intended for parents or legal guardians. You may choose to include your child's first name or other details in stories so that they can appear as the hero.

We do not create standalone accounts for children, and we expect an adult to manage the account.
We do not sell or rent personal information about you or your child.
We do not show third-party ads in stories or elsewhere in the app.

If you believe we have collected personal information about a child in a way that is inconsistent with this policy, please contact us using the methods provided in the app so we can review and, if appropriate, delete that information.

6. Data retention and your choices

We retain your account, stories, and related data for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the service.
You can stop using TaleBlazers at any time and may request that we delete your account and associated data by contacting us through the support options in the app.
We may retain limited records (such as payment or audit logs) for legal, accounting, or security purposes.

7. Data security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to help protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and security features provided by our infrastructure and authentication providers. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to limit access to your data and to store it with reputable providers.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our product evolves or as legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we will update this page and may notify you in the app or by email.
